I am often asked what it’s like working from home. It’s glorious is often my reply. That being said, there’s both good and bad with this amazing opportunity.
I’ve got the pleasure of working from home in my corporate job. Not only can I do that, but I’m able to get a great deal more done when I do! Here’s a list of the good things:
Being my own boss (even in corporate jobs)
I get more done
I stay in my jammies!
My boss trusts me to do my job
These are just a few of the good things. There are also problems that present. It’s important that when one works from home, they concentrate on the work and not just what is around them. Here are some of the bad things about working from home
Being too comfortable
The temptation to slack off
As with any job, working from home should be treated with professionalism. Although it’s easy to let things slip, you should be careful. I try to keep myself as professional as possible, especially when I’m not in the office.
Another thing that people say is to have a dedicated workspace. I don’t agree. I think you should work wherever you feel most comfortable. My place to work is at the table. I can sit and do my work easily. I also like to work on the couch, if the mood so strikes me.
